Child Support

Child Support

There are a number of factors used to determine the amount of child support that will be paid to one party or the other. If there is a case where child support is at issue, a Child Support Guidelines Worksheet must be filed. Child Support Guidelines Worksheets usually accompany a Family Law Financial Affidavit so as to verify the income of the party or parties filing the guidelines. Some of the factors used to determine child support are:

  • Net Monthly Income
  • Percent of Financial Responsibility
  • Child Care Costs
  • Health Insurance Costs
  • Uncovered Medical Expenses
  • Percentage of Overnight Stays with Each Parent
  • Child Care Costs

In some cases, child support may not necessarily be ordered based on the child support guidelines. If an agreement has been made between the mother and father, the parties will have to request the Court to allow a deviation from the child support guidelines.

At the Men’s Divorce Law Firm, we will aggressively fight to help our clients determine a fair child support amount for their case, whether or not they are the ones paying or receiving the child support. Of course, the final say in the amount of child support ordered on a party, comes from the Judge assigned to the case.
